Decreasing Patient-Provider Conflict
Objectives:
Upon completion of this module, dialysis facility personnel will be able to:
recognize potential conflict situations with patients and other staff members
develop a procedure to prevent and manage conflict with patients and other staff members
develop and implement a process for tracking and trending conflicts with the dialysis facility
identify best practices to prevent safety errors
engage patients and families to enhance their culture of safety
Activities Required for Diamond Status/Measures:
In order to receive Diamond Status, your facility must meet the measures listed below:
100% of staff complete an in-service (PowerPoint Presentation) on decreasing dialysis patient-provider conflict (DPC), (English or Spanish) utilizing the DPC Program Toolkit and applicable unit policies
Develop/adopt policy and procedure for conflict management.
Track and trend the number, type, and cause of conflicts in the facility (QI tools are available in the DPC toolkit for reference and use) and use trending results in QAPI
