Objectives:
Upon completion of this module, dialysis facility personnel will be able to:
define paternalistic care (Patient Whisperer approach)
define punitive care (Cowboy approach)
apply the WHISPERER approach in communication skills-building within the dialysis facility
identify the core elements of proper professionalism
demonstrate the core elements of proper professional behavior within the dialysis facility
identify best practices to prevent safety errors
engage patients and families to enhance their culture of safety
Activities Required for Diamond Status/Measures:
In order to receive Diamond Status, your facility must meet the measures listed below:
100% of staff complete the Communication in-service training module
100% of staff complete the Professionalism in-service training module
Encourage and invite 100% of patients to participate in care plan meetings
Summarize results from the AHRQ
Consumer Assessment of Health Care Providers and Systems In-Center Hemodialysis Survey
(CAHPS) in QAPI
Complete online Reporting Form
