Core Elements of Antibiotic Stewardship
Objectives:
Upon completion of this module, dialysis facility personnel will be able to:
define antibiotic stewardship
apply the CDC’s core elements of antibiotic stewardship within the dialysis facility
identify best practices to prevent safety errors
engage patients and families to enhance their culture of safety
Activities Required for Diamond Status/Measures:
In order to receive Diamond Status, your facility must meet the measures listed below:
100% of staff complete the in-service training module (PowerPoint Presentation) on the core elements of Antibiotic Stewardship
Have 100% of patient care staff identify at least 4 of the 7 core elements of antibiotic stewardship and provide examples of each element
Facility Medical Director or his/her designee present an in-service on multi-drug resistant organisms and antibiotic therapy
Obtain an antibiogram for your specific dialysis location and post it in a central point
Complete online Reporting Form
